Six people were being questioned by gardaí in Limerick last night about the activities of criminal gangs in the city including at least one feud-related murder.
This brings to 16 the number of people arrested in the past two weeks in relation to serious criminal activity in Limerick.
Three men and two women were arrested yesterday morning when armed detectives swooped on a number of homes.
Another man from Limerick was also arrested in Dublin yesterday morning. It's understood a key part of yesterday's Garda operation is the ongoing investigation into the murder of Mr Michael Campell-McNamara (23) who was murdered in an execution-style killing last year.
He was shot in the head and his body dumped on wasteground off the Fedamore Road on the city's southside last October.
The six people arrested yesterday were being questioned last night at Roxboro, Henry Street and Mayorstone Garda stations in the city and at Bruff Garda station in Co Limerick.
