GARDAI in Nenagh, Co Tipperary, preserved a scene on a building site where two skeletons were discovered yesterday. The State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, later carried out an examination.

Sgt Pat Curran, of Nenagh Garda Station, said the skeletons were discovered at about 10.30 a.m. They were found off St Conlon's Road in a field where a road is being built at the entrance to a new housing estate.

The site archaeologist, Mr Brian Hodkinson, said the remains were buried in a north-south direction, suggesting that they were of pre-Christian origin.
