Skerries station in north Co Dublin has been named the winner in the 2000 Iarnrod Eireann Best Station awards.
The competition rewards excellence in customer facilities and service, cleanliness and innovation in the country's railway stations.
Skerries also won the best suburban halt for the fifth year running. This year was, however, the first time it has won the overall award.
The Heritage award, given to the station which makes a major contribution to the preservation of the railway's heritage, was won by Kent station in Cork for their railway museum.
