The website skoool.ie is top of the class after taking two awards at the first O2 Digital Media Awards.
The website was developed by The Irish Times, AIB and Intel.
Against strong competition in these categories, skoool.ie was presented with the award for Specialist Broadband Content. It received the award for "making sense of the broadband era by creating specialist interactive content that exploits all the capabilities of this bandwidth in an educational context".
skoool.ie also received the Best Online Content award, recognising "the vast resource of informative interactive content on the site for second-level students, teachers and parents".
In addition, skoool.ie was nominated in the category of Digital Media Innovation (Consumer).
The awards showcase the top achievements in the emerging digital media industry in Ireland as well as the richness and excellence in digital media creation.
Nominated companies display their achievements on a national stage and innovators in the Irish industry are identified.
The awards were presented at the O'Reilly Hall, UCD, last night.
Twenty categories of awards were presented, with the judging panel choosing from a shortlist of an average of five nominees in each category.
Give Up Your Oul' Sins, from Brown Bag Productions, won the 2D Animation Award.
skoool.ie was also voted the Best Website at the 2002 ESAT BT Golden Spider Awards last September and was nominated in the category for Best Community or Special Interest Website.
Since its launch in February 2002, skoool.ie has quickly become Ireland's main online learning resource.
In the month before last year's State exams, the site had over 835,000 PIPM (page impressions per month) from over 31,000 users.
