Airtricity League:Bohemians proved to Sligo that attractive football counts for little if you don't defend properly as they punished Paul Cook's side with a 2-0 win at Dalymount Park this evening.

Sligo were much the better side early on, winning five corner of a total of seven to nil in the first half, but they fell behind on 28 minutes as Bohemians launched their first incisive attack of the game.

Mark Quigley’s clever pass put Paddy Madden away on the left and his pullback was shot home from just inside the area by the unattended Paul Keegan.

Having not played particularly well in the first half, Bohemians appeared to simply move up a gear on the resumption, and their second goal arrived just before the hour mark.

If Sligo’s defending for the first goal was absent, it was positively negligent now as goalkeeper Richard Brush failed to gather Quigley’s innocuous free from the left and defender Ken Oman arrived at the back post to out jump two visiting defenders and head home.

At the Belfield Bowl, UCD ended their four match run of defeats with a deserved 4-0 victory over bottom of the table Bray Wanderers.

Inspired by Ciaran Kilduff, whose hat-trick lifted the big striker to second in the goal-scoring charts, UCD were comfortable throughout and Greg Bolger added insult to injury with a late fourth.

There was drama in the last minute when Bolger and Bray midfielder Chris Shields were shown red cards by Clare referee Padraig Sutton after a midfield flare-up.
