A Sligo woman has pleaded guilty to stealing £28,000 from the Health Service Executive.

A Sligo woman has pleaded guilty to stealing £28,000 from the Health Service Executive.

Cara Canavan from Springfield, Riverstown, Co Sligo admitted nine counts of theft, five counts of unlawful use of a computer and a further charge of attempting to steal £3,659 from her employers at Sligo Circuit Court today.

The court heard Ms Canavan had pleaded guilty to 15 sample charges from a total of 90 charges.

They thefts took place at the offices of the HSE at Markievicz House, Sligo on different dates from 2003 to 2005.

The court heard the accused is currently receiving psychiatric treatment.

Ms Canavan was remanded on continuing bail for sentencing.
