A device has exploded in a train station in Spain's Basque region, damaging the ticket office but causing no injuries, police said today.
The explosion overnight at Barakaldo station was caused by a device planted by two hooded youths linked to Basque guerrillas ETA, according to the mayor of the town.
It followed a bomb explosion in Madrid on Wednesday which injured 52 people in what was seen as a snub to government peace overtures to the armed separatists.
On Thursday a judge sent to prison the head of an outlawed political party with links to ETA, responsible for the deaths of 850 people in a four-decade campaign for a homeland carved out of northern Spain and southwest France .
