For people who live in the bombing areas in England, and have to seek refuge in public shelters at night, there is, it seems, one discomfort that stands out above all else, and that is the snoring of other people in the shelter. Nobody seems to have found a real remedy for the nuisance. One wonders why those so tormented do not stuff their ears with cotton wool. Surely the noise would not penetrate.
And what about the "snore eliminator", invented two or three years ago, which was said to be quite simple to use. It consisted of three specially shaped pieces of tin, which had to be fixed over the teeth before going to sleep. It prevented breathing through the mouth, and, therefore, it was impossible to snore. As this invention is not in general use when it is so much needed, it seems to have been, for some reason, not altogether satisfactory. Could it be because of the grotesque and alarming appearance that it gave the wearer? The moment is ripe for the man (or woman) of inventive genius to produce a snore eliminator that will do the trick without detracting from the wearer's beauty.
