SNOW PATROL and Kings of Leon will return as the headline acts at the Oxegen music festival in July, it was confirmed yesterday.
Snow Patrol’s appearance will follow their O2 Dublin concert to 60,000 fans in March.
The Northern Irish and Scottish band topped the bill at the festival in 2007 along with The Killers.
An announcement on Snow Patrol’s website said The Killers would also be returning to headline Oxegen, but this has not been confirmed by promoters.
Also returning are Dublin trio The Script, who last year played the new bands’ stage.
They have since topped the UK and Irish charts and have been nominated for three Meteor Music Awards.
US rockers Kings of Leon topped an online poll run by the organisers to choose the festival’s acts. Their performance in Punchestown is to be their only Irish gig of 2009.
Making her Oxegen debut will be American singer Katie Perry, who rose to success last year with her single I Kissed a Girl. Festival regulars Bloc Party will also perform.
The three-day festival takes place at Punchestown racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare from July 10th-12th.
Tickets go on general release on Friday, March 6th but those registered for pre-sale can buy them from February 25th.
