The very basic and intimate form of pantomime offered annually at the small St Anthony's Theatre on Merchants Quay has its attractions and its appreciative adherents, both in durable form for this year's Snow White. The sardonic, blue-jowled Val Fitzpatrick is, as always, the Dame with the common touch, leading a tuneful and energetic cast.

The principals are, indeed, all excellent. Alan Hughes is here again, as a funny and empathetic Timmy Tiddles, a mixture of good guy and fall guy. Liz Lloyd (she of Fair City) is a thoroughly nasty Queen, until her final repentance, Kevin Hynes a handsome Prince, Gary Power an offbeat Palace Guard and Dwarf and Aoife Lowry a sweet-singing Snow White.

Tony Kenny the Elder is leader of the Dwarfs, still shaking a leg, and the closing sing-along is as infectious as one could wish for. It's a romp, and a very enjoyable one.

Plays until January 18th, at various times. To book, phone: 01-6706991/3.
