Bridget Spain on the theme Theodore Parker, Radical Minister All welcome. A short assisted lunchtime service of meditation/recollection is held in the church each Wednesday between 1.10pm and 1.40pm. All are welcome to drop in for all or part of this weekly period of quiet reflection in the heart of a busy city. On Thursday 24th March between 1.00pm and 1.45pm all are welcome to the fourth and last of our current series of Thursday Lunchtime Talks. This series deals with Political and Social Life in the Dublin of 1916 and the speaker this week will be Martin Maguire who will speak on Dublin Protestants in 1916 Friday 25 March - Good Friday This year there will be an important additional element to Dublin Unitarian Churchs annual Good Friday Reading of the Names service. At 11.15 am prominent figures from politics, the media, education and the arts will join members of the congregation to read the names of the nearly 500 people rebels, soldiers, policemen, civilians, children who died in Dublin and elsewhere in Ireland during the week of the 1916 Easter Rising and after. At 12.00 midday will begin the traditional solemn reading of the names of the more than 3,500 people who died in the Northern Ireland conflict from 1966 to the present day. This will be the 16th year of the churchs Good Friday Reading of the Names service, a commemorative event that is unique on the island of Ireland. All are welcome to attend all or part of this act of commemoration which lasts approximately 3 hours.
