An Irish soldier and a garda were injured in separate incidents in Bosnia yesterday.

An Irish soldier and a garda were injured in separate incidents in Bosnia yesterday.

The injuries occurred after SFOR troops stormed a bank occupied by Croat separatists in the town of Mostar.

Garda Eamonn Connaire (44), from Co Clare, is a member of an investigation team which was in the bank when it was stormed. He is believed to have sustained a broken rib.

Lieut Col Tom Behan, who is with the EU monitoring mission in Bosnia, was pulled from his car along with his interpreter when stopped at a checkpoint operated by civilians.
