A South Korean woman has been shot dead by a soldier while visiting a resort in North Korea.
South Korea has suspended tours to the resort and started a probe into the killing, Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Ho Nyoun told reporters in Seoul.
The 53-year-old woman, identified only by her family name of Park, was shot in the chest and leg near a beach in the area of the resort that is run by South Korean company Hyundai Asan Corp, Mr Kim said.
She was shot when she entered a North Korean military zone while taking a walk at about 5am, he added. The woman's body was returned to South Korea today, he said.
