US: Police in Los Angeles yesterday searched the home of record producer Phil Spector a day after he was charged with the murder of an actress found dead in his mansion.
In a storyline worthy of a Hollywood film, music producer Spector (62) was arrested on Monday, charged and then released on $1 million bail after Lana Clarkson was found lying in a pool of blood in the entrance to his home.
The actress, who police said was 40, was found shot dead in the foyer of Spector's "Pyrenees Castle". She starred in films such as Amazon Women on the Moon (1987) and The Haunting of Morella (1991).
Police said that Spector, who worked with Elvis Presley, Ike and Tina Turner and the Beatles, would be arraigned for murder in the coming days.
"He is the only suspect at this point," said a police spokesman.
Police received a call from inside Spector's home at around 5 a.m. on Monday after shots were heard coming from the mansion, north-east of Los Angeles. Detectives would not comment on the nature of Spector's and Clarkson's relationship, but sources said they had met the night before.
