The Comptroller and Auditor General is to be asked to examine the apparently high level of Government expenditure on consultancy fees.
It has been reported the current Government spent €215 million on consultants as well as a staff of 29,000 civil servants.
The chairman of the Dáil’s Public Accounts Committee, Mr Michael Finucane TD, has said the matter will be referred to the Comptroller and Auditor General.
It was also reported that € 94 million was spent on consultancy fees for the Eircom flotation.
