Sport and reality TV shows were the most popular internet search items in Ireland this year, according to a survey by Google Ireland.
The survey - which aggregated millions of queries by Irish internet users over the last 12 months - ranked the World Cup and ITV's Celebrity Love Islandshow as the fastest-growing search queries.
Unusually, the bizarre death of Australian crocodile hunter Steve Irwin - who was killed by a stingray in September - was the fourth most popular search topic.
Among the other items which drew the most searches were hit US TV series Prison Breakand Lost.
The Ryder Cup - which was held in the K Club in Co Kildare in September - also figured in the top ten as did searches relating to Munster Rugby team who won the Heineken Cup in May.
Borat - the fictional Kazakhstani journalist invented by the British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen - was also ranked in the top ten of popular search queries.
Electric Picnicwas the most popular event ticket query, with searches relating Radiohead, Heineken Cup and Ryder Cup also commanding a large amount interest.
Google Ireland said the survey revealed "a glimpse of what makes Ireland tick".
