Soccer Round-Up:Premier Division leaders St Patrick's Athletic and Bohemians were both held to respective draws this evening but still maintained their position at the top with Sporting Final the biggest beneficiaries in the standings.

St Pat’s were away to Dundalk at Oriel Park but both sides cancelled each other out and had to settle for a scoreless draw. Bohemians hosted Sligo Rovers at Dalymount Park but they too were unable to find the net and shared the spoils without any goals.

Sporting recorded a 4-1 win over Drogheda United at the Morton Stadium.

Eamon Zayed, who won the title with Drogheda, opened the scoring for Sporting after just four minutes.

Drogheda were quick to respond after a Brendan McGill corner wasn’t cleared and Alan McNally set up Robbie Martin to fire home.

Sporting took the lead after 25 minutes when Ronan Finn hooked up with Ger O’Brien with Gary

O’Neill getting involved, before Finn got the ball back to drill a crisp drive past Paul Skinner from the edge of the area.

Sporting caught Drogheda cold to extend their lead within two minutes of the restart.

Conan Byrne galloped away down the right, skinned Eoghan Osbourne and his low, hard cross was turned into his own net by the unfortunate Jamie Harris.

O’Neill, who was part of everythign all night, sealed it 12 minutes from time. Shaun Maher won a header from Byrne’s free-kick and O’Neill turned

Osbourne to scoop the ball home.

St Pat’s and Bohs lead on 10 points, two ahead of Dundalk, while Sporting are up to fourth (seven points) after their second consecutive win.
