DUBLIN - The Tanaiste, Mr Spring, will join his 14 EU colleagues in Singapore today for two series of meetings between EU and south-east Asian political leaders, Mark Brennock, Foreign Affairs Correspondent, reports.

The meetings are expected to focus on improving trade links between the EU and the seven member-states of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN). But European concern about human rights abuses in Burma and East Timor could add an acrimonious tone to the exchanges. Indonesia has said it will walk out of the meeting if the subject of East Timor is raised.
