US Olympic sprinter Jon Drummond, arrested in October for allegedly transporting marijuana, is scheduled to be called to court on January 22nd.

Drummond (33) made a brief appearance yesterday in court, where his arraignment was postponed. He is charged with a felony count of transportation of marijuana.

Drummond was arrested leaving a building on October 23rd by members of an anti-drug task force at Los Angeles International Airport. Deputy District Attorney Victory Craig Renetzky said Drummond was allegedly carrying seven pounds of marijuana in a backpack.

Drummond's lawyer said his client "had no knowledge of what was inside the package that he was picking up. He just picked it up".

Police began watching the building where Drummond was arrested after task force officers arrested another man who allegedly brought marijuana into a passenger terminal at the airport.

Drummond remains free on bail posted shortly after his arrest. He was a member of the United States Olympic gold medal-winning 4x100 metre sprint relay team at last year's Sydney Games.
