St James's Hospital, Dublin (700 beds)

The number of patients in the hospital rose from 507 on Tuesday to 548 yesterday.

Beaumont Hospital, Dublin (627 beds)

All intensive care units operated at full capacity. Twenty-two patients were admitted in the 24 hours to 8 a.m. yesterday, bringing the number to 382. Cork University Hospital (481 beds)

The hospital had 331 in-patients yesterday, 31 more than the previous day.

Mater Hospital, Dublin (483 beds)

Twenty-four patients were admitted in the 24 hours to 8 a.m. yesterday, bringing the number of patients in the hospital to 392, down four from Tuesday. St Vincent's Hospital, Dublin (472 beds)

The number of patients increased yesterday to 298 from 282 on Tuesday.

Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Tallaght, Dublin (464 beds)

Thirty patients were admitted in the 24 hours to 8 a.m. yesterday, but the overall number of patients dropped to 306, down from 313 on Tuesday. Limerick Regional Hospital (395 beds)

In the past 24 hours, 127 patients were seen in the hospital's accident and emergency department, the highest since the beginning of the dispute. The number of patients at the hospital dropped to 171 yesterday, from 179 on Tuesday. The board repeated its appeal to the public to visit their GPs for non-urgent cases.

Waterford Regional Hospital (393 beds)

The number of in-patients slipped back to 170 yesterday from 231 on Tuesday. Approximately 50 nurses were available out of more than 400.

Sligo General Hospital (304 beds)

There were 126 in-patients being treated at the hospital yesterday, compared with 135 on the day the dispute started. There were 167 beds available and 41 vacant. Inquiries: (071) 71111.

Letterkenny General Hospital (277 beds)

The hospital had 155 in-patients yesterday, compared with 189 eight days ago when the dispute began. There were 218 beds available, with 63 vacant.

Five emergency operations were carried out on Tuesday night in the hospital's one open operating theatre.
