CLOTHING company that closed down yesterday with the loss of 50 jobs said the decision was partly influenced by the problems it had recruiting suitably-qualified employees in adequate numbers.

UR-OK Textiles Ltd manufactured swimwear, children's and casual wear for the past seven years in Bandon, Co Cork.

A statement from the company said it regretted the decision to cease trading from yesterday evening but it had been having ongoing difficulties in trading, including a number of cancelled export orders recently.

The company expects to discharge all its liabilities when the assets are realised. During its seven years in business the company contributed over £3.7 million to the local economy in wages and purchases, collected and paid £1.2 million in taxes to the State and has provided full-time employment for between 40 to 65 people.
