Security guards and members of an English stag party fought each other on O'Connell Street, Dublin, last Sunday afternoon, a court heard yesterday. The fight broke out when a group of Englishmen and some Irish friends were refused admittance to McDonald's.

Dublin District Court heard that security men from other fastfood restaurants came to the assistance of their colleagues and gardai had to intervene. Adam Mabbot (30), Wood Green, London, who pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and breaching the peace, told the court "things became a nightmare". Judge Desmond Hogan applied the Probation Act.
