UK fashion designer Stella McCartney was guest of honour last night at the opening of the new 7,500sq ft Brown Thomas Designer Rooms on the store's first floor.
Nearly 30 international collections including that of Ms McCartney's main line are showcased in a gallery-style, marble and sculptural glass space designed by Canadian company Burdifilek. Ms McCartney, whose inexpensive once-off range for H & M also goes on sale this week, launched her brand in 2001 as a joint venture with the Gucci group. It is now distributed in 43 countries with three flagship stores in London, New York and Los Angeles.
"I love these events and I love meeting the women who wear my clothes," she told The Irish Times, "and anything that has my name on it has to be something of which I am proud".
