Eight cross-channel Stena Line sailings were cancelled yesterday due to a gearbox problem with the HSS Stena Explorer. The vessel was forced to return to Holyhead after the problem developed shortly after starting its 4.10 a.m. sailing to Dun Laoghaire.
The 4,000 passengers and 500 cars affected were accommodated on alternative vessels. Stena Line hopes the HSS Stena Explorer will be deemed fit to sail this morning.
Passengers intending to travel today should contact Stena Line at (01) 204 7777.
