Stoke City have refused to comment on speculation linking Republic of Ireland international Liam Lawrence with a move to Celtic. The Hoops have reportedly tabled a bid of €1.8million for the winger as interim boss Neil Lennon attempts to strengthen ahead of the new campaign.
However, reports suggest City want around €2.4million for the 28-year-old, who has also been linked with Premier League rivals Wolves.
Stoke were remaining tight-lipped over Celtic‘s interest, while the Parkhead club were unavailable for comment today.
Lennon could be confirmed as Tony Mowbray‘s permanent replacement in the next 48-hours and has already been linked with a number of transfer targets for what would be his first full season at the helm.
Out-of-contract Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley is another name in the frame.
But Celtic could face competition from Old Firm rivals Rangers, Everton, West Ham, Blackburn, Wigan and Italian Serie A outfit Roma for the €6million-rated Wales international.
