Avon and Summerset - British Home Secretary Jack Straw could face prosecution over the incident in which his police driver was stopped after allegedly travelling at more than 100mph.
The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that it had received a report from Avon and Somerset Police who pulled up Mr Straw's unmarked police Jaguar last month. There is an offence of aiding and abetting a driver to break the speed limit. If Mr Straw was charged and found guilty, he could face a maximum fine of £1,000. A conviction would be a huge embarrassment for the Home Secretary and could lead to calls for his resignation.
