London - The Home Secretary, Mr Jack Straw, last night pledged to ban foreign donations to political parties with major new reforms aimed at cleaning up British politics.
The clampdown on party funding will be unveiled in the Neill Bill tomorrow and comes after the row over the Tory treasurer, Mr Michael Ashcroft.
Although Mr Straw insisted the new rules were "not directed at individuals", Mr Ashcroft, who is based in Florida, said he feared they would be extended to cover so-called tax exiles.
