Ryanair pilots have deferred their one-day strike tomorrow to consider new proposals on working hours. These were put forward by management at a meeting with pilots yesterday.
In an unusual end to the threat of industrial action, pilots have offered to donate flight allowances from tomorrow's operations to the North Dublin Hospice movement. The company says it will match the figure. IMPACT is to put the new settlement proposals to members tomorrow. These provide for an average maximum working week of 45 hours. The upper limit will be around 50 hours.
As a gesture of goodwill to customers, the airline is offering all available seats on tomorrow's flights between Ireland and the UK free, except for taxes and airport fees. These must be booked by midnight on the company's website. Meanwhile, passengers who switched flights from tomorrow to other days because of the threatened strike will be offered their flights tomorrow if they wish.
