The Anglo-Irish exploration company Minmet said todayfurther exploration of the Banjas Mine in its Valongo Gondomar licence area in Portugal has confirmed the high gold values reported earlier.
The advice came from the wholly owned unit Connary Minerals operating on the site.
Technical director Mr Gordon Riddler said: "There is little doubt that the geology, structure and to a large extent the lode-type gold mineralisation evident in the Banjas area is replicated over a distance of at least 10 kilometres to the north-west of Banjas."
He said this was reinforced by evidence from the "continuity of the soil geochemistry results" reported previously.
