The funeral of 21-year-old Co Wicklow student James Nolan, who died after he fell into a river in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz, takes place today.
Mr Nolan’s remains were recovered from the river Brdaz last Wednesday, four days after he went missing during a Euro 2012 trip with friends.
The funeral Mass will take place at the Church of Our Lady in Blessington at 11am, followed by burial in Burgage Cemetery. Local soccer club Blessington FC has opened a book of condolences for Mr Nolan’s family.
Polish police have described Mr Nolan’s death as a “tragic accident” with no sign of foul play. An autopsy conducted yesterday in Bydgoszcz revealed no physical injuries and indicated drowning as the cause of death.
