Jakarta - The corruption trial of former Indonesian president Suharto will open on August 31st, the case judge announced yesterday, further ordering that the 79-year-old must appear in court in person.
Meanwhile Indonesia announced its long-awaited cabinet yesterday, putting in place what many hope will at last be a government that can pull the country out of nearly three years of crisis.
President Abdurrahman Wahid named an ambitious retired general, Mr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, as chief political minister and an economist, Mr Rizal Ramli, as senior economics minister.
