The warm weather is set to continue until the start of the weekend, according to Met Eireann, but there is little real hope of a continuous heat-wave in prospect, at least in the short term.
In the circumstances, it does seem premature to plump for beachwear.
Fog and mist will clear early today to give dry, warm and sunny weather with light north-easterly breezes.
It will be another pleasant day. Temperatures will reach highs of 18 to 21C in many inland areas and around 15 to 16C in coastal areas.
But onshore breezes will be fresh at times. There will be light, mainly northern, winds tonight. Cloudy conditions will develop along northern coasts, pushing southward throughout the night.
Tomorrow will not be nearly as good. The day is expected to be warm but cloudier, according to the Met Office, with some light rain or drizzle spreading from the north. Winds will be light, and variable in direction.
Neither is it time to put away the winter woollies. Saturday will be noticeably cooler, with some sunny spells and scattered showers along with moderate northerly winds.
Sunday will remain cool with some rain or drizzle. The rain will clear to showers by Monday and the winds will be fresh, westerly or south-westerly.
The indications are for more unsettled weather until the middle of next week. But temperatures will be up to or above average, says Met Eireann.
Farmers will be pleased to note that in general soil temperatures have moved from last week's half a degree below average to one degree above this week.
