Superquinn has appointed a new chief executive, with former Dunnes Stores executive Andrew Street taking up the role.

Mr Street, who will join the retailer on December 2nd, was previously chief operating officer at Dunnes Stores, a role that he held for 12 years. He has also worked with Boots, where he served as a board member and director in the company's corporate headquarters.

Executive chairman Simon Burke, who will hand over the day to day running of the retailer, welcomed Mr Street to the company.

Superquinn, which operates 24 stores in the State, was sold to Select Retail Holdings in 2005. It recently opened its newest store in Heuston South Quarter in Dublin, and said it plans to continue expanding its store base.
