LONDON - Britain gave guarded support yesterday to a conference of all countries which handled Nazi gold during the second World War to discuss compensation for Holocaust survivors. "We are open to the idea of a conference, but we would want to ensure that it has a clear purpose and was properly prepared," a Foreign Office statement said.
Two British MPs and a colleague from the European Parliament yesterday won the backing of the Swiss Foreign Minister, Mr Flavio Cotti, for a conference when they met him in Zurich.
