A voluntary organisation to support the families of sea tragedy victims has been officially inaugurated by the Minister of State at the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources, Mr Hugh Byrne.

LOST (Loved Ones of Sea Tragedies) was set up by Mrs Carmel Currid of Co Wexford, who lost her husband, Timmy, in a fishing vessel accident at Howth, Co Dublin, in November 1995. Two other crew members were washed ashore and rescued, and a third was rescued by helicopter.

The funding will be provided by the Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) allocation of the EU Programme for Small Scale Coastal Fishermen.
