The Powers Gold Label Supreme Champion animal at Tullamore show yesterday was a Charolais cow exhibited by Farmleigh Farm, from the Pedigree Charolais Pedigree herd, Castleknock, Co Dublin.

The Farmleigh animal also won the top two awards in the Charolais Female Champion and the National Livestock Show Charolais Champion.

The reserve champion was a pedigree Holstein Friesian cow shown by Mr John J. Skehan, Rathcormack, Carrick-on-Suir, Co Waterford.

The National Livestock Show Simmental Female Champion was shown by Peter and Marion O'Connor, Race View, Knappogue, Co Cork.

The winner of the Pedigree Shorthorn Cow was shown by Glenn Carter, Knocknarea, Co Sligo.

The MRI Championship was won by Brian and Neville Gill, Geashil, Tullamore, Co Offaly.

The National Holstein In-Milk Heifer was shown by Roy Cromie, Castlefin, Co Donegal.

Both main prizes in the Simmental breed went to Angela and Gerard Brickley, Coolrain, Portlaoise, who won the Breeding Cow and Junior Simmental Heifer Championship.

The Simmental Male Championship went to Peter Mulhare, Cloughan, Co Offaly. The National Charolais two-year-old Heifer Championship winner was shown by Seamus and Helen McCann, The Pigeons, Athlone and the Kilboy Estates, Silvermise, Nenagh, showed the winner in the Charolais Male competition.

The Purebred Limousin Heifer Champion was shown by William Smith, Millbrook, Oldcastle, Co Meath.

The Belgian Blue Male Champion was shown by the Vaughans, Arklow Road, Gorey, Co Wexford, and the Aberdeen Angus Champion by Michael and Oliver Flanagan, Moydrum Castle, Athlone, Co Westmeath.
