The Supreme Court has been particularly busy issuing rulings this week as two of its members are retiring in the coming days. Ms Justice Fidelma Macken will hold her final sitting this morning while Mr Justice Joseph Finnegan will retire from the bench on Monday.
Supreme Court judges are appointed by the Government and the vacancies are usually filled without delay. The Cabinet is expected to discuss the issue when it meets next Tuesday. Both judges have enjoyed long and distinguished legal careers.
