West Sussex - Mr Paul Mahoney is hopeful of once again holding his infant daughter in his arms after a team of surgeons applied ground-breaking techniques to re-attach his amputated arm.

The 27-year-old's left arm was cut off just above the elbow following an industrial accident two weeks ago. Surgeons at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, West Sussex, battled yesterday for 15 hours to re-attach his arm using complex microsurgical reconstruction.
