A suspect in his late 30s was being held in custody in Limerick city last night following a shooting incident in a housing estate at 9.20 p.m. on Wednesday, which left one man dead and two injured, Eibhir Mulqueen writes.
Gardai appealed for witnesses as detectives conducted house-to-house inquiries at Byrne Avenue, Prospect. Supt Willie Keane of Roxboro Garda station, who is leading the investigation, said a shotgun was recovered from the scene. Shotgun rounds were fired by a person who came out of a house after three men called to it. The man who was killed is believed to be in his 20s and his injured companions are in their 30s.
