Investigators were today examining the scene of a suspected arson attack which wrecked a pub.

Fire swept through the Boundary Bar on Shore Road, north Belfast, overnight, and the authorities confirmed they were treating the blaze as suspicious.

No one was injured, but Ken Leathem of the Fire and Rescue Service said the first floor had been gutted.

"The fire was brought under control after about one hour but the building has been extensively damaged," he said. "At this early stage we believe the fire to be of a suspicious nature."
