A Dublin man who was caught dealing cannabis in a park has been given an eight-year suspended sentence by Judge Kieran O'Connor at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Maurice Smith (28), with addresses at Oranmore Road, Ballyfermot and Bernard Curtis House, Bluebell, pleaded guilty to two counts of the possession of cannabis for supply.

Garda Ray Murphy said Smith was caught standing over a parcel he had placed under a tree. It was found to contain 97gm of cannabis worth £1,000. Another package was also recovered underneath a nearby stone which contained cannabis worth £20. A smaller amount was later recovered from his house worth £10.
