A suspicious fire at a Dublin city centre school is being investigated by gardaí.

A suspicious fire at a Dublin city centre school is being investigated by gardaí.

A blaze at St Laurence O Toole’s national school on Seville Place, Dublin 1 yesterday caused damage to the front of the building and extensive smoke damage to the entire building, a Garda spokesman said.

The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday between 4am and 6am.

Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene which has been preserved for a technical examination. No one was injured in the incident.

Gardaí at Store Street have appealed for witnesses or anyone who saw suspicious or unusual activity at the school or in nearby streets between 4am and 6am on Sunday to contact them on 01 6668000.
