Ronnie O'Sullivan's relentless march towards his first Embassy World Championship final continued as he maintained a four-frame lead over Joe Swail at the half-way stage of their semi-final at the Crucible.

'The Rocket' began the second session holding a 6-2 advantage and shared the next eight frames to hold a 10-6 lead which leaves him requiring only seven of the remaining 17 to cross the winning line.

But Swail refused to buckle despite missing several relatively easy pots and he twice came back from a six-frame deficit to leave him with a glimmer of hope going into tonight's penultimate session.

The winner of this encounter will take on either Matthew Stevens or John Higgins, who will take a 5-3 lead into this afternoon's second session.
