Berne - An 11-year-old Swiss-American boy, freed after a US court dismissed charges that he sexually abused his five-year-old sister, is to join his parents in Switzerland today.

The boys' parents fled their Colorado home near Denver and returned to Switzerland shortly after Raoul was arrested in August, saying they were worried about losing custody of his three sisters.

The case had sparked widespread notice for the manner in which Raoul was arrested by police, who took him from his bed at night, handcuffed. He spent six weeks at a juvenile detention centre before he was placed in a foster home, after a neighbour claimed she saw him touch his sister in a sexual way. Raoul and his parents said he was helping her to urinate in the garden.
