Beleagured Swiss airline Swissair has resumed flights until the end of this month following the grounding of the fleet for two days on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It is expected that about half of the flights scheduled to depart today will depart, and the company hopes to increase this to near-full capacity by the end of the week.

The decision to immediately resume flight operations was taken after the Swiss government made a credit available to Swissair to the tune of $277.3 million.

The financing will provide emergency help to allow the airline operations to restart and operate until October 28th, when most of its flight operations are to be taken over by former subsidiary carrier Crossair.
