A strike by psychiatric nurses that was due to begin at Tallaght Hospital, Dublin, this morning, has been averted.
The strike avoidance followed talks late last night by the Health Service Employers' Agency (HSEA) and the Psychiatric Nurses' Association (PNA).
The association had considered strike action over its claim for compensation for members injured at work.
Both sides agreed that a taskforce would be set up to look at compensation.

A spokesman for the PNA said the key element in last night's agreement was that the HSEA would accept the findings of the taskforce.
The strike would have been extended on Friday to several other hospitals.
