Talks between An Post and the Communications Workers' Union (CWU) have ended in agreement at the Labour Relations Commission this evening.
The two sides reached an agreement on overtime and pay rates for the Christmas period meaning a possible disruption to deliveries over the holiday season has been avoided.
Under the agreement both sides agreed to adhere to the agreements and arrangements put in place for Christmas 2003.
Mr Sean Mc Donagh of the CWU, said he was delighted the union reahed an agreement with An Post management.
"We are hopeful that, on this occasion, An Post management will honour the agreement reached," he added.
Separately, the CWU will continue a double-ballot of members throughout the country.
The second ballot, the result of which will be known on Friday next, is seeking a renewed mandate for industrial action if it is deemed necessary to protect existing agreements over the Working Time Directive.
