The withdrawal of an internal transport service at Dublin Airport for passengers with disabilities will be raised at a meeting in the airport this morning.
It will be attended by Mr Pat Wylie, secretary of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities, and senior Aer Rianta officials. Mr Wylie sought the meeting when it emerged that an airport buggy, which could carry between three and six passengers between aircraft and the arrivals hall, had been withdrawn.
Aer Rianta has said that the buggy was introduced last year only as a stopgap until a travelator - a moving walkway - was installed. But Mr Wylie said the long distances in the airport were difficult for "anybody with locomotive difficulties". Aer Rianta takes the view that assisting passengers is a matter for the airlines which carry them.
