The programme was established in 1999 as part of an enterprise-led approach to up-skilling people in employment.
Since its inception, Skillsnet has "succeeded in kick-starting training in over 2,300 companies across 60 networks" the Tanaiste said today.
"I believe that there is scope to test further innovative approaches to the delivery of training for people in employment and to expand the training networks concept into new sectors.
"I am therefore allocating a budget of €15 million to Skillsnet from the National Training Fund, up to the end of 2005, for a new phase of the training Networks Programme," she said.
