The newly-married Tβnaiste is hoping for a trouble-free political partnership until voters go to the polls next year, Michael O'Regan reports.
Ms Harney, after being congratulated in the Dβil yesterday on her marriage to Mr Brian Geoghegan, thanked everybody, adding: "I hope I will get at least until the next election to enjoy my political honeymoon." The Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, wished "Mary and Brian well for the future," while the Fine Gael leader, Mr Michael Noonan, said they were all delighted for her.
Wishing her every happiness, the Labour leader, Mr Ruair∅ Quinn, said: "I hope that we will not have to dispatch her on a long honeymoon." Earlier yesterday, the Cabinet presented Ms Harney with a painting, November day in Sally Gap, by Niall Wright.
